Depending on age, goals, and personality, approaches may include:

  • Talk-based and relational therapy

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) strategies

  • Emotional awareness and regulation skills

  • Creative expression through art and play

  • Movement and mindfulness-based activities

  • Trauma-informed approaches, including EMDR when appropriate

  • Social, communication, and problem-solving skill development

How Starting Therapy Works at Our Practice

Therapy is a collaborative process.

We begin by meeting with parents to understand your concerns and your child's history. From there, your child participates in an intake and assessment period over three sessions. This allows us to get to know your child, and understand their strengths and needs.

After the assessment period, we meet with parents again to share observations, discuss goals, and create a collaborative treatment plan. Throughout therapy, we continue to partner with parents to track progress, answer questions, and develop supportive strategies that build on the work happening in sessions.
