Your Questions, Answered

Getting started begins with reaching out through our contact form or by phone or email. We’ll talk briefly about your concerns, answer questions, and help determine whether our practice may be a good fit for your child or family.
If appropriate, we’ll schedule an initial intake session to better understand your child’s needs, current challenges, and goals for support.

Many families seek therapy when emotions, behaviors, stress, or relationships begin to feel difficult to manage alone. You do not need to wait until things feel “severe” to seek support! Our practice may help if your child or teen is experiencing:
anxiety or frequent worry
emotional outbursts or overwhelm
school stress or avoidance
behavioral changes
difficulty with friendships or family relationships
withdrawal, sadness, or changes in mood
challenges adjusting to life transitions or stressful experiences
We are confident that with individualized care, therapy can provide support, perspective, and tools for both children and families.

Parent involvement is an important part of our work with children and adolescents. We believe that parents will find that therapy not only supports their child, but also helps strengthen communication, understanding, and connection at home. We partner closely with parents to track progress, answer questions, and develop strategies that support growth outside of therapy sessions.
Our therapists may also collaborate with schools, pediatricians, or other providers when appropriate and with consent.
For those looking for more in-depth parenting help, we also offer Parent Coaching sessions.
LEARN MORE ABOUT PARENT COACHING
-
We see child and teen therapy as a collaborative process with families. We begin our intake by meeting with parents to understand your concerns and your child's history. From there, your child participates in an intake and assessment period over three sessions. This allows us to get to know your child, and understand their strengths and needs.
After the assessment period, we meet with parents again to share observations, discuss goals, and create a collaborative treatment plan.
Throughout your child’s therapy, we continue to partner with parents to track progress, answer questions, and develop supportive strategies that build on the work happening in sessions.
-
The length of therapy depends on each child’s needs, goals, and the nature of the challenges they are facing.
Some children benefit from short-term support focused on a specific issue or transition, while others benefit from longer-term therapy or group sessions that allow for deeper emotional work and ongoing growth over time.
Our therapists regularly monitor progress and collaborate with families to ensure therapy continues to feel supportive, meaningful, and appropriate for each child’s evolving needs.
-
Our practice specializes in working with children and adolescents and intentionally keeps caseloads small so we can provide the level of support that comprehensive child therapy often requires — including collaboration with parents, schools, and outside providers.
For this reason, we are an out-of-network provider and do not participate with insurance.
Most families receive some reimbursement depending on their out-of-network benefits. We also accept Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).
Before beginning therapy, it may be helpful to contact your insurance provider and ask about reimbursement for out-of-network mental health services. Common billing codes include:
90791 — Initial Diagnostic Evaluation
90834 — Individual Therapy Session
90856 — Parent Session
90853 — Group Therapy Session

Yes! While our child-focused work is done through in-person appointments at one of our offices (in either Towson or Ellicott City, Maryland), we offer telehealth services for our parent sessions.

Item descriptionUnder federal law, healthcare providers are required to provide clients who are uninsured or not using insurance with an estimate of expected healthcare costs, including psychotherapy services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate outlining the anticipated cost of services before beginning treatment or at any point during care. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 higher than your estimate, you can dispute the charges.
